GCI Leadership

James Glanville

James works with the men in GCI training to give 1-1 support and supervision.
He became aware of the importance of biblical counselling toward the end of his PhD in Christian Counselling at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. After graduating, he worked in biblical counselling ministries in South Africa and then New Zealand.
James has extensive experience in crisis support, including grief and trauma counselling.
James ministers at Onekawa Bible Church in Napier, where he lives with his wife and family.

Alex Allen

Alex works with the women in GCI training offering 1-1 support and supervision.
Alex is currently completing her M.A in Biblical Counselling with Westminster Theological College. She has also earned an Associate Degree in Christian Counselling, as well as a Diploma in Biblical Studies from Shepherd’s Bible College.
She has worked in NGOs, a local high school, the Chaplaincy at Massey University, and in her church. Alex currently has her own private Biblical counselling practice and lives in Taupo with her husband of 42 years.

Darryl Burling

Darryl runs the monthly book calls and other group trainings within GCI.
He chose to major in Biblical Counselling for his B.A, and then after completing a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology, went on to do his PhD in Biblical Counselling at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Darryl supports biblical counselling ministries in NZ and is passionate about equipping churches with biblical counsellors.
He teaches biblical Greek online at, and serves at Fenton Park Bible Church in Rotorua, where he lives with his wife and family.

Tony Nuñez

Tony is on the GCI board (alongside James, Alex and Darryl) helping make executive decisions and overseeing the Institute as a whole.
He graduated from the Master’s Seminary with a MDiv (Hons) and holds a B.A. (Hons) in Biblical Exposition from The Master’s College and has been in ministry for over 30 years.
Tony originally hails from California but has been ministering in New Zealand since 2004, having married his NZ born-and-raised wife, Chantelle. He is currently pastor at Fenton Park Bible Church in Rotorua, where he lives with his wife and family.

GCI Team Members

Ruby Maschler

Ruby helps the GCI team with marketing, email communication, and tech support.
She became a follower of Christ at the age of 23, and is now in training with GCI. She also works for Darryl’s biblical Greek teaching business at Ruby writes and sings her own worship songs, and loves to use her music to serve the Lord.
Ruby has a background in email marketing, teaching and theatre. She was raised in Nelson and currently lives in Rotorua.
